Our people
Our founders and principal consultants are well connected with others to whom we can reach out as specific tasks demand.
Principal Consultant
Ian Loughran
Ian Loughran holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham and brings over 30 years of experience spanning process engineering, process safety, and HSE management across oil and gas, petrochemicals, and nuclear fusion.
Having worked on both sides of the engineering and safety divide — as process engineer, safety authority, project manager, and corporate HSE director — Ian understands firsthand the competing pressures that operators and designers face. His advice is grounded in practical experience rather than theory, and he is equally comfortable on the shop floor, in the project office, or presenting to a board.
His career spans an unusually broad range of technologies and environments, from North Sea offshore platforms and onshore gas terminals to Arctic LNG facilities and first-of-a-kind nuclear fusion projects. This breadth allows him to bring fresh perspective and transferable insight to every engagement.
